Hope "springs" eternal..an epitaph to "Wilbur"

Happy Valentines Day! Michael received a package
via the U.S. Postal Service
from his Papa & Gamma
filled with "prizes"
&
Valentines treats. We got to watch him open it over the web cam
He tries on his new rain coat plays with his new truck

tries on his dragon hat
He also got a musical Valentines card
that his Papa and Gamma recorded
a message on..
We got to see him...
open it..listen..close it..
open it..listen..
close it..
over & over & over
again!

calls back later that night to say
"Good Night"

Tomahawk Chop..
Everybody has to do it
and
don't forget to
"Whoa-whoa"
"Do what?"
Ready to go and play so a big wave good-bye
and now another word
"Bye"
This past week we experienced a
heat wave...
2 days in a row
low to mid 40s reached
for the highs
and last Sunday was a warm one too.
Michael and I got out and went
"south"
into Mass. were the southern sun had
melted spots of snow deep enough to
see 4 to 6 feet of ground!
Yeah, really..the ground that has grass and leaves on it!!
I was almost Giddy!
Back here our snow has not "melted"...
but it has shrunk!!!
I look out and this morning I can see the granite fence
and some of the big boulder's in the
yard for the first time in around six weeks!
and right outside the kitchen window..
a spot about 5 foot in diameter...
all the way to the ground!
All the icicles
are gone..
Yes, even "Wilbur"
has slowly dripped away.
I have thought of donning a swim suit
and running up and down
Love Lane
in jubilation of the warmth..
but, alas
Canada comes calling again this morning..
Our highs are to be in the 20s again..
I have been told about the glorious
sunny 70s
that have tickled the children
in Virginia
and the rest of our families
in Alabama...
So in celebration of warm weather
I Have donned
the
Flip-Flops!
This past week I finished
the project I had been working on..
A quilt just smaller than a "twin" size
but larger than a throw..
so on a cold night one could get completely
"covered"
in the living room..by the fire..
I wanted boats and such
so..
with anchors in the corners
and sail boats on the
boarders of waves
I have named it...

"Nautical Dreams"

All y'all hug each other for us
and we will do the same..

Good Mornin"

Good Mornin' from the
Great White Tundra just south of the
"Great North Woods"
Another cold day starting out at 2
with a predicted low in the negative
once again..

Arthritis index is stuck on
"High"
...
and the old joints are
Barking!

It has been a quiet week on Love Lane..
the days and evenings filled with quilting..
I am almost through with the project
at hand...
a couple of more days and I hope
to see it finished...

Last week end plans for snow tubing
were put on hold till better weather conditions.
...

Apparently , I could not wait to wildly
fling my body down on a cold and very
slippery surface..
so Friday night while taking out
the garbage I took a practice
fling!
As for ice skating I am still
no better at it than I was at 13!
Well..at least this time I did not knock
myself out!
We seemed to have dodged a bullet
and just caught the bee-bee with our bi-weekly
snow storm this week..
it snowed for 2 days straight..
but, and this is a guess-timation,
I figure it was only 3 inches worth.
***

As the afternoon turns into evening
and everyone is home we get to hear
the ringing of the web-cam..
Papa and I scurry to the computer to
see and talk to
"The Little Mister"
I really like this age of the "Jetsons"!
As far away as we are ,we still get to see
the little fellow and hear his new words ,
see his new favorite toy, play patty-cake,
and watch him play air guitar ...
I take snap shots sometimes as we talk..
never know for sure how they will
turn out..the boy is a wiggler..

his green truck

playing air guitar

he is our rock star!

green bandage covers today's
boo-boo.

This week has been cold...
again
the icicles just continue to grow
and add character..

snow

Chloe sleeping..

this ice formation
seems to be pointing up in
the direction of
"Wilbur"
Yes, he has been around for over a month..
so he gets a name.

this mornings tracks in the drive..
It looks like deer..
They are abundant.

Happy Birthday

Saturday, at the beach

A few days ago Michael brought home a tub of
"Rum Raisin" ice cream...
but when he went to put it in the freezer
saw there was not enough room...
he deducted there was about one serving left of lime sherbet
and came up with a plan..
he would put the tub of lime sherbet
in the snow bank on the deck just out the back door.
Then sometime after supper he would retrieve
it and make a lime /ginger ale float.
turns out there was a "small" problem
with that idea...

Now, I would think
if someone put a bucket of lime sherbet
in "my" snow bank on
"my" deck
outside
"my" back door
that they intended for
"me" to enjoy the sherbet...

Well..
as it turned out
so did Chloe.

Saturday started out grey and dismal
like so many of the days lately,
but by 9 or 10
the sun had broken through
and it was a beautiful day!
The days high had been somewhere
before daybreak..
and got colder as the day progressed..
another front from Canada
was coming in..
Michael had been on the job for
an electrical shut down and called to see if I would be
at all interested in lunch in town
and then a trip to Maine..

turns out Cabela's
(his favorite store)
was having a "BIG" sale.
Anyway, I regress...
when he picked me up I told him it
had been requested that I
post pictures of snow on the beach..
So off we went in the direction of the beach..
It has not snowed in a few days..
but there has not been a lot of melting
so maybe there would still
be some snow at the beach...

the house ahead was built in the
early 1700s

We are coming up on the ocean

you can see the suns glare off the water

the Atlantic is just on the other side
of the truck in the picture

Now we are on Ocean Boulevard headed
toward Hampton Beach

Seagull sitting on beach wall

remember...
this is not the brilliant white sand
most of you are use to at the
Gulf of Mexico..this is snow on the beach..

The sand up here is pretty brown..

our favorite Chinese restaurant..
fa-ra-ra
the beach

a orange fence was put up after "season"
before the winter weather blew in..

It is low tide and in some pictures you can see where
the water has come up on the beach..
by seeing where the white snow meets the brown sand

walk way to the beach

headed north up 1A

beach wall to our right

on a continuous lookout for Seals & Whales

I wonder if they are headed to Savannah?

I wonder if I could catch a ride...
just as far as Tybee.
headed into town..

a bite at the
"Celebrity Sandwich Shop"

and then on toward Maine

and headed back home

It was wonderful to get out and about in the sunshine!

And until next time :

May the sun always shine on your windowpane
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain
May the hand of a friend always be near you
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Bye now.
